Wine Tasting

Wine Tasting

Grayhaven offers an array of hand-crafted estate wines for tasting & purchase and often offers select South African wines when in stock. Tasting fees are $7, with the option to keep the logo glass for an additional $3. Alternatively, visitors can purchase Heart of Virginia Wine Trail tickets for $20 and receive a wine trail tasting glass and tastings at all five HOVA wineries. Tasting tickets can be purchased in advance or during your visi and make great gifts.  There are typically 6 wines to sample, plus 1 or 2 sangrias or hot mulled wine in colder months.

Cheese is King at Grayhaven

Artisan Cheese & Salami boards are available from our tasting room.  Order a small (3-cheese selection) or large (5-cheese selection) and enjoy with a glass of wine on the deck or in the tasting room. Visitors are also welcome to bring a picnic.  Light hors d' oeuvres for your wine tasting, such as olives and cured meats, can be ordered in advance.  Catering is available for business luncheons and private events.

Grayhaven is a Family Friendly Winery

Family Friendly

Grayhaven is family friendly! With a playground, nature trail, horses, dogs, and wide open spaces - there’s plenty to see and do. While so many of our fellow wineries are choosing to ban families with children, it remains our belief that children are far more interesting, not to mention well behaved, than a limo full of inebriated adults - which is why we put restrictions on limos, not families.

South African Food and Wine Festival

Grayhaven hosts some of the most unusual, fun, age-diverse and culturally-diverse events on the East Coast, from the acclaimed  The South African Food & Wine Festival, to a variety of smaller events and activities, such as the popular International Cheese Tastings, the history-focused An Evening With Ghosts and Jazz Under The Stars. Visit our Events page for info.  Discounted tickets are often available with a non-refundable advance purchase.

Dogs Chill At The Winery

Dog Policy

Visitors may bring well-behaved pets at their own risk.
There are four horses on the property, please take care to keep dogs out of horse pastures and barn, as this is unsafe for both dogs and horses.
You and your pooch are welcome in all designated areas.  If you prefer to do your tasting outdoors, please let our staff know.  There are three working Wine Dogs that roam freely.  Please remember dogs greet each other best when their humans don’t hover.
During events, please keep dogs on-leash only.

Where To Stay

There are amazing getaways right here in Central VA -so treat yourself to a great weekend of wine tasting and a comfy stay at a B&B, AirBnB or hotel.
While we don’t endorse any specific hotel, we can lend some advice to get you looking in the right direction.  1) There are no hotels within about 18 miles of the winery - however, if you are a regular AirBnB guest, you’ll find a few stays in the Gum Spring/23065 neighborhood.  2) If you search for hotels online, be sure to enter our closest hotel areas of Short Pump, VA or Innsbrook, Glen Allen VA.  Broader searches of Glen Allen or Richmond, Virginia will deliver a ton of  results, both good and terrible.  3) Bed & Breakfasts work hard for their legal status and are worth the extra $ to ensure your safety and a great experience.  The Richmond and Charlottesville areas have wonderful B&B’s often in historic buildings - don’t leave them out of your search!  4) Camping - there are a few campsites in central VA, the one in Louisa on Lake Anna is the closest.
