Grayhaven estate wines reflect a dedication to expressing the unique terroir of the central Virginia Piedmont as well as the microcosm of our estate vineyards.
Established 45 years ago, our vineyards line the rolling hills at 400ft elevation and are anchored in fertile rocky loam with mineral-rich clay bands. Distinct seasons unfold, from mild springtimes to hot mid-Atlantic summers, through lingering autumns to the snow-laden dormancy of wintertime. All of these aspects of time and place, along with vintners' style and philosophy, contribute to the complexity and mineral-forward personality of our wines.
Rivercrest port-style dessert wine, 18% abv, is a blend of small-batch reserve reds and French brandy. Complex, yet light and less sweet than typical dessert wines, Rivercrest pairs best with bold cheeses like Stilton.
Grayhaven produces wines from our central Virginia estate vineyards as well as wines from grapes grown in select mountainside vineyards in South Africa. Imported grapes are processed, fermented, aged and blended in our cellars at Grayhaven alongside our estate wines.
South African wines are now available throughout the year in our wine shop, online and on our daily wine tasting menu. Grayhaven's owner/winemakers, Max and Deon Abrams, visit Deon's homeland frequently to visit the wineries and winemakers we work with.
